Fuck the World

You hate everything,
you say,
evidenced by
your black skullcap
clenched tightly
around your head,
shielding your brain
from any media-
generated ideas,
keeping your
revolutionary ideas
in place.

You protect
your wrists
with two-inch
spiked bracelets,
aimed directly
towards anyone
who might wish
to harm
or hug you.

You proudly wear
the Confederate flag,
because you think
that you believe
in the values
that your forefathers
fought to uphold—
and yes, maybe
the South will
rise again.

You say,
Fuck the world,
like it’s the latest
slogan, that you
are responsible
for inventing—
but what you
don’t know
is that the world
has already
been fucked
many times over.
